At a certain point, my volunteerism has turned into a career of sorts. I grew up in the San Francisco Bay Area and took a long route to college, ultimately graduating from University of Washington with a degree in Anthropology. I spent many years as a volunteer DJ at KBCS-FM in Bellevue WA, with a couple of very short management stints there. The first show I hosted was once a week, in the middle of the night – typically people only do this for a short while, but I did it for about a year and a half, first from 3-5 AM and then midnight to 3 AM. It was a show called “Movie Madness” – and that’s where I’ve ended up: mad about movies, preserving them and making them.
